Welcome to Arts Integration! This workshop will offer opportunities for you to think, plan, test, revise and create curriculum for your classroom infused with the arts! Together we will share and explore the ways in which we can work to improve our understanding and experience with the arts as the drive for our content across all subject areas.
Throughout the workshop we will look at the arts integration from a teacher/director’s perspective: how the work is organized, what the purpose or the point of the activity is and how we create standards based activities that integrate theater, movement and music into the classroom. Additionally, teachers will use activities with the elementary aged children in our summer youth workshops. We will be onstage!
Participants will give and receive feedback and ideas based on readings, observation, activities and discussion. Our goal is for you to feel supported in the work in arts integration. Your part is to come ready to share your ideas to rework your curriculum units and focus on performance based assessments as an alternative to traditional assessment. You will have the time, guidance and inspiration as a plan for you to use throughout your school year.
We are a certified Professional Development Provider with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
