An Evening with Yo La Tengo

Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 pm

Fresh off celebrating their 30th anniversary as one of the most beloved and adventurous bands in rock history, Yo La Tengo have released Stuff Like That There which revisits the original concept of their beloved Fakebook (a mix of covers, “covers” of Yo La Tengo songs and brand new originals) on its 25th Anniversary.
Dubbed by Rolling Stone as one of the most consistently good bands of the past 25 years, infusing everything from cocktail jazz to psychedelic noise freakouts to gorgeous acoustic tunes into their music, Yo La Tengo comes to the The Academy of Music with two sets: one rock and the other more acoustic. The trio consists of Hoboken, New Jersey, bohemians/ husband and wife team Ira Kaplan (guitars, piano, vocals) and Georgia Hubley (drums, piano, vocals); joined by James McNew (bass, vocals). Renowned for both their original material and their encyclopedic repertoire of cover songs, they have developed one of the biggest fan followings in indie rock.

  1. Chris

I saw these guys recently in Troy and the show was fantastic. Quieter than usual (acoustic, even!) which showed an all new side to these stalwarts of noise.

  2. Eric Blevin

I saw them at Solid Sound North Adams, MA. They were strong in their set variety. It was so hot and sunny we had to retreat to a shady spot next to the spillway. They sounded so good bouncing off the brick buildings.
