Django in June presents Marcel Loeffler

Friday, June 16 at 7:30 pm

Django in June is New England’s premiere event dedicated to the musical genre associated with the great French Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt. During the week our Django Camp brings together serious students of the style from across North America and abroad for intensive study and “djamming” with world class artists. On Friday and Saturday night these same artists offer us all a grand finale of concerts at the Academy of Music.

Friday, June 16th: Marcel Loeffler accompanied by his son Cédric and Christophe Astolfi on guitar and William Brunard on bass. This concert marks the first time that an accordionist will headline one of our concerts. We could offer our local audience no better introduction to what that instrument can, in the right hands, bring to the Gypsy jazz tradition. Marcel has just the hands for the job. A master of French chanson, la musette and jazz, he sets the standard today for a tradition that included such early greats as Gus Viseur, Jo Privat and Tony Murena.

Opening for the Loefflers will be Duved Dunayevsky (guitar), Fiona Monbet (violin) and other artists on the Django in staff. You can learn more about all our artists right here:
