SOLD OUT-“Such a Night” Mardi Gras Musical Celebration – featuring Dr. John, Charles Neville and Soul Brass Band

Saturday, February 25 at 8:00 pm

Dr. John and Charles Neville, two titans of the New Orleans music scene, share the stage in a rare performance to benefit Blues to Green, an organization that harnesses the power of music to bring people together and inspire positive social change. They met in the 1950’s as aspiring young musicians in New Orleans and later shared a small apartment in Soho as their respective careers took flight. In the intervening six decades they crossed paths on stages around the world and worked in the recording studio together, serving as ambassadors of the vibrant musical heritage that they grew up with.

On this exceptional night, Dr. John and Charles Neville reunite and join forces with New Orleans’ Soul Brass Band to celebrate and support the mission of Blues to Green, a nonprofit founded by Kristin Neville in response to the devastation of hurricane Katrina. Best known for producing the Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival, Blues to Green develops music and art events that aim to strengthen communities, catalyze social change, and promote environmental stewardship.

Dr. John is a legendary musician, whose name is synonymous with the colorful music, culture and traditions of New Orleans. Winner of six Grammy awards and an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dr. John is well known for his musical style, bedazzled suits and showmanship. With more than sixty years in the music industry, Dr. John has performed with countless musicians including Professor Longhair, James Booker, Eric Clapton, Allen Toussaint, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, The Neville Brothers and more. He has written the score for, or performed his music for countless movies and TV including The Princess and the Frog, American Horror Story, Saturday Night Live; and performed at Super Bowl XL as a part of a pre-game tribute to the New Orleans Saints.

Charles Neville is a Grammy winning artist, a master of the saxophone and a long-time resident of western Massachusetts. He has performed worldwide with artists like James Booker, Bobby Blue Bland, B.B. King, Allen Toussaint and of course Aaron Neville and The Neville Brothers.

Also performing that evening will be the Soul Brass Band, a top-flight band steeped in the New Orleans brass band tradition, from the regular band repertoire to second line parades. Their energy will get the party started! The event will begin with a Second-line parade led by the Soul Brass Band. Then Dr, John, Charles Neville and other musicians will color the night with the sounds of New Orleans, with that unique Mardi Gras flair! Come ready with your beads and dancing shoes.
