THE EAGLE HUNTRESS follows Aisholpan, a 13-year-old girl, as she trains to become the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter, and rises to the pinnacle of a tradition that has been handed down from father to son for centuries. Set against the breath-taking expanse of the Mongolian steppe, THE EAGLE HUNTRESS features some of the most awe-inspiring cinematography ever captured in a documentary, giving this intimate tale of a young girl’s quest the dramatic force of an epic narrative film.

“”The Eagle Huntress” is all at once an inspiring story for children of all ages to believe that they can do anything, a reflection of the unfairness of gender roles and a rare and unique look at a remote part of the world.”

– Ariel Scotti, New York Daily News

“”The Eagle Huntress” tells its documentary story with such sureness that falling under its sway is all but inevitable.”

– Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“Viewers jaded by daily doses of digital dazzlement might not fully register the reality of the wonders they are witnessing. But that doesn’t, in the end, make “The Eagle Huntress” any less wonderful.”

– A.O. Scott, New York Times

“A sky-high documentary salute to girl power.”

– Susan Wloszczyna, RogerEbert.com

“There’s a spirit that soars in this nature doc about a 13-year-old who becomes Mongolia’s first female eagle hunter in 12 generations. You’ll be hooked.”

– Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

Sometimes inspiration is found in unexpected places. Choreographer Allison Orr finds beauty and grace in garbage trucks — and in the men and women who pick up our trash. She joins city sanitation workers on their daily routes to listen, learn, and ultimately to try to convince them to collaborate in a unique dance performance. Hard working, often carrying a second job, their lives are already full with work, family and dreams of their own. But some step forward, and after months of rehearsal, two dozen trash collectors and their trucks perform an extraordinary spectacle. On an abandoned airport runway, thousands of people show up to see how in the world a garbage truck can “dance.”
