Beyond Possible: How the Hearing Voices Approach Transforms Lives

Film Screening + Panel – Part of the Resilient Communities Series

Academy of Music
274 Main St, Northampton
Wednesday, September 28th
Doors at 6:30pm
Intro and Film at 7:00pm

Beyond Possible: putting personal stories in the context of an international movement for human rights and dignity, this 22-minute film explores what the Hearing Voices approach looks like, how it began, and the ways in which it is expanding our view of what is possible in the lives of people who hear voices, see visions, and/or have other similarly non-consensus-reality-based experiences.

Following the Northampton debut of Beyond Possible, a panel of local community leaders connected to the Hearing Voices Network (HVN) will help expand the conversation around how our relationships to these experiences impact public health and community-wide transformations around meaning, purpose and equity:

  • Caroline Mazel-Carlton, Director of Training of Wildflower Alliance, HVN-USA Board Director

  • Cindy Hadge, Lead Trainer, Wildflower Alliance, HVN Facilitator

  • Gail Hornstein, Professor Emerita of Psychology, Mount Holyoke College/Director, US Hearing Voices Research Project

Also, join us for a community dinner in Pulaski Park provided by Manna Community Kitchen before the screening at 6:00pm and learn about local peer and mutual support resources.

Event is FREE and open to the public! Masks encouraged when in attendance. Please contact DCC Implementation Director Sean Donovan by email or phone with any questions or accessibility requests: sdonovan@northamptonma.gov or 413.587.1309.

A joint project of the City of Northampton’s Department of Health and Human Services / Department of Community Care with Mayor’s Office, Department of Arts & Culture, Community Action Pioneer Valley, Manna Community Kitchen, UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences, Northampton Survival Center among other groups.
